We invite you to experience the ultimate African Safari at our brand new private luxury camp spectacularly located just a stone throw from the stunning Hwange National Park.  Hwange Elephant Lodge opens April 2014.

Day 1

We board our international flight for Johannesburg then a quick connecting flight to one of the most astonishing destinations on the planet, Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls. After a delightful drive along the Bulawayo Road we arrive at Hwange Elephant Lodge whose resplendent natural surroundings leave us, quite simply, in stunned awe! Unwind in the most beautiful scenery imaginable - a welcoming setting for our first evening here.

Hwange Elephant Lodge will overlook several waterholes allowing some great wildlife viewing activity from the camp where elephant, buffalo, rhino, spotted hyena, giraffe, zebra and the big cats come to drink. It is fascinating to see the variety of plains game that risk receiving notice from a predator in order to enjoy the bounty of the waters!

Day 2-6

Hwange National Park

Offering the greatest concentration and variety of game in Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park is home to over 400 bird types and 107 species of mammals. The park is one of the few remaining elephant sanctuaries left in Africa and is famous for its huge population of elephants, often seen in herds of up to 100.  Here we are one with nature, admiring glorious African sunsets or awakening with coffee to a chorus of birds.

After a delicious breakfast each day we enjoy bush walks and game drives in Hwange National Park accompanied by professional guides who also point out the flora and fauna.  Two game runs are planned daily, both of which will introduce you to the intense beauty and drama that fills each day.  We return to the Hwange Elephant Lodge each evening for cocktails, a superb dinner and dream-laden evening’s sleep.

Victoria Falls

On one morning we tour the Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. We are left awestruck by the sheer power of what natives call "Moyi-O-Tunya" or “the smoke that thunders”.  We stop at various vantage points to marvel at the splendor of this natural wonder, casting its spray high into the glorious African sky, and may also wander through some of the many authentic craft shops and galleries in the town.

Zambezi River

Our great adventure includes an optional day of fishing along the fabled Zambezi River.  In addition to world class fishing, our exploration of the Zambezi brings us close to snorting hippos, sunning crocs, and huge tuskers wading at the water’s edge.  Bird lovers enjoy the prolific birdlife while drifting blissfully within the picturesque frame of lush riverine vegetation.  As you look downstream you can also normally see the spray from the mighty Victoria Falls.  As the day winds down, we approach the riverbank, admiring the astonishing African sunset before returning to Hwange Elephant Lodge.

Day 7

Victoria Falls – Johannesburg – United States

After six nights in the heart of Hwange, we awaken with eternal gratitude for safari life and a new appreciation for the grandeur of Zimbabwe. We proceed to the airport and bid farewell to this grand journey. The first flight is to Johannesburg for a connecting flight home.
